Started playing at Villanova where would eventually captain the side and be named EPRU all-star in 15’s, and collegiate All-American in 7’s. While still a student, in the summer played for Lehigh Valley RFC leading the team to Men’s 7’s Nationals in 2006 and 2007. After college, joined Schuylkill River in 2007 and was named Captain in 2008. In 2008, started Schuylkill River 7’s Program leading them to Men’s 7’s Nationals in 2009. After relocating in 2009, played for Baltimore-Chesapeake and Potomac Athletic Club in the now defunct Super League. Would return to Schuylkill River in 2011, captaining the side in both 7’s and 15’s until his retirement from playing in 2020. Collected many accomplishments throughout his playing career: Competed in 11 Men’s 7’s Nationals (9 SR, 2 LV), 5 time MAC 7s Champion, 2014 D1 MAC 15’s Champion, Atlantis player, 3 time MAC 7’s all-star (Captain twice), 2011 Men’s 7s National Runner-up.

Matt was introduced to rugby while at St Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, NJ. After high school he attended St. Joseph’s University where he was a 3 year starter, and an All-Conference Selection and 15s Conference Champion his senior year. Zeb had also played in the CRC’s and was the Club’s President for two years. Deciding to stay in Philadelphia, Zeb joined the Schuylkill River Exiles where he has been a mainstay on the Division 1 side, splitting time between hooker and prop. During Covid, Zeb was asked to assume the role of Vice President helping oversee our short Spring season and Summer 7s. In the fall of 2022 he was voted in as President of the club. Under his tenure the club has gone on to place 2nd in 15s Nationals and 3rd in 7s Nationals.

JB began his rugby career at the University of Hartford as a back line player in 1998. In 2001 he joined Media RFC as a Center before joining Schuylkill River in the Spring of 2004. During his playing career with the Exiles, JB has played Wing, Flanker, Flyhalf, Center, and Lock. The true definition of an Utility Player. In addition to 15s, JB has played 7s with Schuylkill and rugby league with Philadelphia Fight. JB truly enjoys the teaching aspect of the game and has coached various programs in the Philadelphia region. In 2010 JB joined the Drexel RFC coaching staff, assisting with player development. In 2011, JB switched his focus to youth rugby becoming head coach of Vaux HSRFC 7s until 2013 when the school was closed. Realizing his desire to continue to grow the game, JB co-founded the North Philadelphia Nomads RFC, where he currently serves as head coach. Continuing to expand his coaching experience, JB also served the Philadelphia RFC as Backs' Coach from 2021-2022 and as 7s coach from 2021 to present. While serving as Vice President for the Club, JB's focus has been bridging the generations of the Club and expanding fundraising efforts. JB has also played part in the planning and expanding of the Friends and Family Day event.

Matt grew up in a rugby family in Drexel Hill, PA. His father John "Skunk" Hughes played for Second City Troop and is a member of the Schuylkill River Rugby Hall of Fame. His brother Sean also played for Monsignor Bonner and Villanova. Matt's playing career started at Monsignor Bonner under Jeff Preston, a former USA Eagle. Following this - Hughes attended Villanova University, where he was a 4 year starter and 2 year captain under an incredible group of coaches that included Jack Foley, Steve Green, Tom Dugan and Biddy Boyle. He graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering. For the club - Hughes served as Treasurer for 2 years and Recruiting Chair for 1 year. Matt then joined Schuylkill River in the summer of 2015 as a 7s player and won 2 MAC Open Championships with the U23 Academy. In Matt's first year as a member of Schuylkill River's 15s program he established himself as a D1 player. Hughes has served on the Schuylkill River's Board since 2019.

Ryan grew up in the Frankford section of Philadelphia and graduated from Roman Catholic before attending St Joseph's University, where he picked up the game of rugby. In his professional life, Ryan is a Property Manager for Target. As a rugby player/ admin, Ryan has done it all. He most recently completed a term as the Disciplinary Chair for the EPRU BOD while also serving as the Match Secretary for River. He has also had coaching stops at Simon Gratz, Roman Catholic, St Joseph's Prep, Temple University, Neumann University, and Princeton University among others . Ryan has also volunteered his time with the Northeast Frankford Boys and Girls Club, the Narberth Otters Flag Rugby Program, and Schuylkill River 7s. His playing career has included time at both Media Rugby and Schuylkill River, winning numerous awards for both teams.

Jack was born and raised in the Roxborough/Manayunk section of Philadelphia and was first introduced to rugby as a sophomore at Roman Catholic High School. Jack played throughout the rest of his high school years and later played four years at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, MD. During his senior year at Loyola, Jack was elected club President by his peers and led the team off the field, organizing various club events on and off campus. Jack returned back home to Philadelphia after school and joined Schuylkill River Rugby in the summer of 2019 and has been playing with the club ever since. In 2020, Jack was appointed to the Schuylkill River Board of Directors as Recording Secretary. In this role, he is able to leverage prior club leadership experience by recording and synthesizing board minutes while providing insight to the board from the younger generation of club members. Outside of his roles as a player and board member for Schuylkill, Jack works as an Associate at Bernstein Private Wealth Management. He resides in Manayunk with his girlfriend, Melissa, and their dog, Benji.
